My Morning Routine for Managing PCOS, Hypothyroidism & Hashimoto’s Disease
If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me what supplements I take, I’d probably have enough to fund my entire vitamin stash for the next year. Seriously, this has been my most requested video, but instead of breaking it up into a never-ending Part 1-5 series, I figured I’d save us all the trouble and put it all right here in one place—with a breakdown of why I take what I take.
If you’re dealing with PCOS, hypothyroidism, or Hashimoto’s, you know that managing your health sometimes feels like juggling a million things at once. Energy crashes? Check. Brain fog? Oh yeah. Hormones acting like they run the place? Always. But over time, I’ve figured out what works for me, and these supplements have been game changers.
So, let’s get into it! Here’s everything I take every morning, why I take it, and how it actually helps me feel like a functioning human.
1. Hydration & Bone Broth
I start my day by hydrating first thing in the morning, with a warm cup of lemon water. I don’t measure it (I probably should though!) I measure with my heart. Some mornings I add more lemon juice than other mornings. My sister and brother in law have a lemon tree, so that’s where I get my lemons from and I squeeze the juice myself and I store them in these cute little containers I got from Amazon linked here. Drinking warm lemon water on an empty stomach helps with digestion and supports detoxing your body. It also helps boost my energy levels as well!
The second thing I drink every morning is bone broth. I now make my own bone broth weekly, but before I made my own, I used to only drink Butcher’s Bone Broth. You can find this at either Costco or Whole Foods. I love how jelly this brand is which means it’s rich is collagen. I just turned the big 3-0, so your girl needs all the collagen she can get! Did I mention per 1 cup of bone broth, it contains 13g of protein? Sheeshh.
I only drink about 6oz of this every morning, and personally I add a little (or a lot to most people) of hot sauce just to add a little bit more flavor.
2. Sea Moss Girly for Life
I take 1 TBSP of Sea Moss every morning. Now some mornings I take this first before my lemon water and bone broth, and other mornings I take this last. I have no specific order I take these supplements in. Sea moss is packed with 92 minerals and vitamins your body needs daily.
Now the reason I take this daily:
Sea moss is naturally rich in iodine, a key nutrient needed for healthy thyroid function. Since hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s are linked to an underactive thyroid, getting enough iodine can help support hormone production and metabolism. You need to be careful to not consume to much iodine though. Consult your doctor first if this is something you are concerned consuming to much of. This is just what works for my body.
Now I already mentioned it’s rich in 92 vitamins and minerals, but two of those which are key for the conditions I have are selenium and zinc. These help reduce inflammation and helps with the overall thyroid health and function.
I can write a hundred more bullet points of why I take this daily, but I will leave this last bullet and will let you do your own research on sea moss if this is something you are interested in- it’s most commonly used by women like myself, for it’s gut healing and anti-inflammatory properties. I am sure you have heard of “moon face” or in other terms, “cortisol face”- cortisol is a stress hormone and sea moss helps reduce this.
I buy my Sea Moss here 5 jars at a time in flavor Mango Pineapple which is the best flavor in my opinion. I look forward to taking this every morning!
3. Coconut Cult Girly.. I think?
I am very new to trying out Coconut Cult. I purchased mine from Whole Foods since this was completely sold out on Amazon in the flavor Chocolate Mousse. I knew I had to try it out if Amazon was sold out! This was something my doctor and so many friends have been trying to get me to try since last year. I finally hopped on the bandwagon.
The flavor? …it does NOT taste like Chocolate Mousse, but I will be giving an update once I complete my first jar of coconut cult. I will post an update if I notice any difference taking it and if I personally find it worth it to incorporate in my morning routine.
Benefits of coconut cult and why I fell for the “scam” (only cause it did not taste like chocolate mousse) and bought it for myself-
Excuse me while I may sound like Google or Chatgpt for a moment:
Reduces inflammation, which is a key factor in PCOS symptoms like weight gain, insulin resistance, and acne.
Supports balanced blood sugar, reducing spikes that can worsen my PCOS symptoms.
Supports a healthy gut microbiome which is linked to improving estrogen metabolism. This would help regulate my hormones more naturally, which is my goal.
Here is the Coconut Cult I purchased if you would like to try it for yourself, but you have been warned- it does NOT in fact taste like Chocolate Mousse! But also not the worst thing I’ve ever tasted.
Another way I taking in prebiotics and probiotics is by switching over from regular yogurt to coconut yogurt which is just as tasty!
4. Perelel Baby Making Pack
Disclosure: my husband and I are NOT actively trying for a baby. BUT this is something that is encouraged to start taking if we ever would like this option in the future, especially for my age ( I turn 30 this month).
Okay now I got that out of the way…
Why take this, if we aren’t actively trying for a child? Why not take a multi-vitamin instead?
Let’s be real—when you hear "Baby Making Pack," your first thought is probably, “Oh, so you’re trying to have a baby?” Nope, not yet! My husband and I aren’t planning to expand our family right now, but I still take this prenatal supplement every single morning.
Why? Because it’s not just about making babies—it’s about supporting my hormones, thyroid, and overall health (which is a full-time job on its own when you have PCOS, hypothyroidism, and Hashimoto’s disease!).
My Hormones Need All the Help They Can Get
PCOS is like that one unpredictable friend who cancels plans last minute.. One month, my cycle is totally normal, and the next? Nowhere to be found!
That’s where Inositol, one of the ingredients in this pack, comes in. It’s been a game-changer for me because it helps with:
✔ Regulating hormones
✔ Keeping my cycles more predictable
✔ Supporting better insulin sensitivity (a huge deal for PCOS!)
Even though I’m not thinking about pregnancy at this point in my life, I know that balancing my hormones now will make life easier later on down the line, if my husband and I decide we want children in the future.
My Thyroid Needs Some Extra Love
Having hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s means my thyroid is, well… not the most reliable employee. It’s slow, sluggish, and sometimes just straight-up unmotivated.
This is where iodine, selenium, and zinc come in—they help keep my thyroid hormones in check and reduce inflammation (which is a big deal for autoimmune conditions like Hashimoto’s).
Oh, and let’s not forget Vitamin D and Omega-3s.These little gems help:
✔ Boost immune function
✔ Reduce brain fog (because I do not have time for that)
✔ Keep inflammation levels down
So basically, this supplement is like a daily pep talk for my thyroid, helping it do its job a little more efficiently.
5. Folic Acid + Here’s Why I’m Sticking With It
I’ve been taking folate (the natural form of folic acid) for almost three months now, and it’s one of those things I didn’t realize my body needed until I made it part of my routine. As someone managing PCOS, hypothyroidism, and Hashimoto’s, I’ve learned how important it is to support my body with the right nutrients—and folate is a big one.
Here’s why it matters, especially for women:
✔ Supports hormone health – It plays a role in reproductive health and can help regulate cycles.
✔ Boosts energy – Folate helps with red blood cell production, which can make a difference in overall energy levels.
✔ Good for brain & mood – It supports neurotransmitters that impact mental clarity and stress.
✔ Helps with thyroid function – Folate plays a role in lowering inflammation and supporting metabolism.
It’s been a simple but important addition to my daily routine, and I definitely notice the difference in how I feel. Just another small way I’m giving my body what it needs.
You can find all of the supplements I mentioned either in the links throughout this blog, or check out my Amazon storefront. Just like my mornings, my nightly routine is packed with essential vitamins and supplements to support my health and well-being. Maybe that will be my next blog post—stay tuned!
